Six Flags New England
Six Flags
New England is named for the New England region in
which it is located. Six Flags New England is
located in Agawam, Massachusetts, near Springfield,
Massachusetts. Like most other Six Flags parks, Six
Flags New England is divided into two sections: the
amusement park, which includes major attractions
such as Superman - Ride of Steel, Mind
Eraser and Batman: The Dark Knight, and
the water park, named Hurricane Harbor.
When Six Flags, Inc. rebranded the park in 2000,
they added many attractions and generally
refurbished the park. The new rides consisted of
several clones and the unique, award-winning
Superman: Ride of Steel. They added Batman -
The Dark Knight in 2002, doubled the size of the
water park in and renamed it from Island Kingdom to
Hurricane Harbor in 2003 and introduced two new
rides for the year 2005 season: the roller coaster
Mr. Six's Pandemonium and a water coaster
named Typhoon. For the 2006 season, the SWAT
flat ride from Six Flags Astroworld now re-named
Catapult and Diablo Falls, also from Astroworld
now re-named Splash Water Falls have been
added.

Dorney Park is a
United States amusement and water park. It has a
large number of elaborate roller coasters,
children's rides, and features one of the largest
water parks in the country, Wildwater Kingdom. It is
located in South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania,
just outside of Allentown, Pennsylvania, in the
Lehigh Valley region of the state.
Dorney Park is owned by Cedar Fair, L.P.. Cedar Fair
purchased the park in July, 1992. Previous owners
included Harris Weinstein 1985-1992, Robert F. Ott
1967-1984, Robert L. Plarr prior to 1967, and,
before him, Jacob Plarr. The park originally was
founded in 1884 by Solomon Dorney, for whom it is
named, as a fish hatchery. Rides have come and gone
at Dorney Park, such as the Philadelphia Toboggan
Company's Grande Carrousel which debuted at Dorney
in 1932 from Shellpot Park in Wilmington, Delaware,
but was destroyed in a September 1983 fire at the
park. Hercules was demolished at the end of the 2003
season due to high maintenance costs and low
ridership, and was replaced by "Hydra the Revenge"
in 2005. |
